Upload form says max 100 KB? Choose Target size. We lower the quality first, never to the point where it looks blocky, and only then make the picture smaller. Each card says whether it made it.
A PNG gets smaller by using fewer colours, 256 at most, the same trick dedicated PNG compressors use. It stays a PNG, and see-through areas stay see-through.

The savings in the table are not ours to promise on trust. Here is what the people who build browsers and measure the web say about the same formats, in their own words.
Most JPGs carry more quality than a screen can show, which is why a phone photo can lose half its size and look the same. Google's own page-speed audit is built on that: it saves each JPG again at quality 85 and measures the difference.

Etsy asks for listing photos at least 2,000 px wide and warns that files over 1 MB may not finish uploading on a slow connection. A photo straight off a phone is often several MB.
How it helps
Choose Target size, then 1 MB. Quality comes down before the pixels do, so a 2,000 px photo usually keeps its size, and each card says whether it got under. Up to 30 photos per run.
India's Staff Selection Commission asks for the scanned signature as a JPEG of 10 to 20 KB, and applications whose signature misses the rules are rejected. A phone scan is usually hundreds of KB.
How it helps
Pick the 20 KB preset. A signature is mostly white paper, so it gets there while the ink stays readable. The card shows the final size, so you can check it is also above 10 KB before you upload.
Gmail limits a personal account to 25 MB of attachments per email and turns anything bigger into a Google Drive link. Twenty full-size JPEG proofs can easily pass 100 MB.
How it helps
Set Target size to 500 KB and the same twenty proofs come to under 10 MB, clear enough to pick favourites on a screen. Keep the full-size files for the final delivery.
Google's Lighthouse page-speed audit saves each JPEG again at quality 85 and flags it when that alone would save about 4 KB or more. A page of images exported straight from a design tool fails the audit one file at a time.

WordPress scales any upload larger than 2,560 px down to that size, but only after the full file has crossed your connection and landed on your hosting, where the original is kept too.

Compress before you upload. A phone photo usually leaves at a fraction of its size, so the upload finishes sooner and the copy on your server takes less of your storage plan.
Shopify only accepts product images smaller than 20 MB and suggests 2,048 × 2,048 px for square photos. Exports from a high-resolution camera get close to that cap, and shoppers on mobile data load every byte.

Run the whole shoot through Best quality before importing. Cut-outs saved as PNG stay PNG with their transparency, and the result screen points to PNG to JPG when a photo was saved as PNG by mistake.

No. Animated images are not supported anywhere in these tools; a GIF would come back as a single still frame, so it is refused at the file picker instead.
