Drop in 2 to 50 frames, put them in order, choose how long each one holds, and get a single animated GIF back. The GIF is made in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
Turn a handful of photos or screenshots into a looping animation in seconds.
Drop 2 to 50 JPGs and they become one animated GIF, played in the order you set.
Choose how long each frame shows, down to 0.05 s. Around 0.2 s reads as motion rather than a slideshow.
Loop forever for a reaction or a product demo, or play once and stop on the last frame.
Sort by name so frame2 comes before frame10, reverse the sequence, or drag cards into place.
The animation plays in the workspace with your timing, so you can judge the speed before anything is encoded.
Pick a longest edge from 320 to 800 px. A smaller GIF loads faster and stays under chat and email size limits.
| Your frames are | As a GIF | Advice |
|---|---|---|
| Screen recordings, UI, line art | Clean — flat colour is what GIF stores well | Go ahead; try 640 px |
| A short photo sequence | Visible banding and dither | Acceptable at 320–480 px, worse larger |
| A gradient or a sky | Banded, unavoidably | 256 colours cannot hold a gradient |
| Anything over ~20 frames at 640 px | Several megabytes | Drop the size before dropping frames |
Grain in photos, speed in small steps, a ceiling of 50 frames: each comes from the format itself, not from a setting on this page.
A GIF can use at most 256 colours in each frame, so a photo has to fake the missing shades with a fine pattern of dots. That is the grain you see in skies and skin, and no setting removes it.
“To simulate more than 255 or 256 colors, dithering is generally used.”The format counts how long each frame stays on screen in hundredths of a second. The speed slider moves in 0.05 s steps, so whatever you choose is stored exactly.
“If not 0, this field specifies the number of hundredths (1/100) of a second to wait before continuing with the processing of the Data Stream.”Long animations are where GIF falls behind. Google's web team measured the same clip at 3.7 MB as a GIF and 551 KB as an MP4. That is why this tool stops at 50 frames and points longer clips to video.
“In this example, the initial GIF is 3.7 MB, compared to the MP4 version, which is 551 KB, and the WebM version, which is only 341 KB!”Six places an animated GIF has to meet a length, size or frame rule, and how to build one that does. Every limit links to the platform's own documentation.
GitHub lets you attach GIFs to issues, pull requests and comments, but caps images and GIFs at 10MB. A step-by-step walkthrough captured at full screen resolution can pass that long before the last step.
How it helps
Save each step as a JPG (PNG screenshots go through PNG to JPG first), press Sort by name and pick 640 px. Flat interface colour is what GIF stores well, and the download button shows the size before you attach it.
Google Ads does not allow image ads whose animation lasts longer than 30 seconds, and its policy notes that an animation can only loop within 30 seconds; anything more leads to disapproval.
How it helps
Set Seconds per frame and watch the readout, for example 12 frames × 2.00 s = 24 s per loop. Then choose Play once, so the ad stops on its last frame instead of looping past the limit.
Mailchimp warns that Outlook does not support animated GIFs and shows only the first frame, so the most important information has to be on that frame. A GIF that opens on a blank or in-between frame says nothing there.
How it helps
Drag the frame with your offer or headline into first place before exporting; the workspace plays frames in the order you set. Around 480 px keeps an email GIF light, and the download button shows the size.
GIPHY limits uploads to 15 seconds and 100MB, but recommends no more than 6 seconds and 8MB or less. A product shown frame by frame from every angle easily runs longer than the recommendation.
How it helps
The panel multiplies frames by seconds per frame as you drag, so 30 frames at 0.20 s reads 6 s per loop. Loop forever suits a reaction GIF, and the download button shows the size to check against 8MB.
Discord's developer documentation says uploaded stickers are limited to 320 × 320 pixels and, for animated ones, 5 seconds, and the file must be a PNG, APNG, GIF or Lottie JSON no bigger than 512 KB.
How it helps
Crop the frames to 1:1 in Crop Image first, then choose 320 px, which makes the GIF 320 × 320. Keep the per-loop readout under 5 s and check the size on the download button before uploading.
Intercom says images in chat messages should be at least 262px wide to take up the full width of the message, and images in posts should be wider than 498px. A walkthrough exported smaller sits undersized in the post.
How it helps
Pick 640 or 800 px so the animation fills a post, add the steps as JPGs, and choose Loop forever so it replays while the customer reads. The preview plays at your timing before anything is encoded.
Between 2 and 50 frames. Past that a GIF gets large fast and a short video is the better format.
GIF holds 256 colours per frame. That is the format, not the export setting — photographs dither and skies band. Flat graphics, screen recordings and line art survive it well.
The order shown on screen, left to right. The file picker does not promise name order, so there is a Sort by name button that puts frame2 before frame10 rather than after it.
0.2 seconds each (5 per second) reads as motion for most sequences. GIF stores each frame's time in hundredths of a second; the slider here goes down to 0.05 s.
Not here — this tool takes still JPGs. Export the frames you want first, then bring them in.
